Donations. For those who want to help.

I set up a Paypal donation button this morning for for those who wish to do so. I’m not 100% sure of how it works on my end and if there are taxes applicable, that’s something ill have to investigate further. I have thought about donating a percentage of each donation received to another charity, most likely an animal organization, but i think unless it could be set up automatically through paypal, on a per donation basis, it could be a pain to manage. This might also put pressure on some to offset this by donating more, and I don’t want that.

I have mixed feelings about the whole thing and after writing a huge post about it this morning, I decided to just leave it up to people to decide what they want to do.

If you feel like donating to this project to help raise some funds for hardware and software, then i can only offer my thanks in return. I can’t offer rewards and gifts in return like some projects do, but i promise to take note of all contributors and when the time comes, you will be credited.

I do have several great ideas for gifts and rewards though, so i’ll be sure to announce it here if i am able to go ahead with them. It will all depend on pricing and availability though, shipping etc.

I am currently working out the best way to integrate the donation button into the blog. I will either add it to the sidebar, or edit this post and attach it to the bottom later.

I will have another post for you shortly, stay tuned.

  1. Perfect, I will be donating soon although the only reward i would like is the game once it’s finished 😀

    Keep up the amazing work.

  2. By sending money as a gift, paypal doesn’t take any fee.

    • Yes that’s true, but the fees associated with donations are not that high really. People could send it as a gift if they wanted, you only need to know the email address, which comes up before you confirm. I guess its up to people to decide what they want to do. I just thinks its easier to use the donate button system.
