All sorted now!

Well it took longer than expected, but I’ve got Crysis and the editor working properly now.

I was having issues with the game, enemies were not moving or firing, just standing motionless and abusing me. Was pretty darn funny, but not very challenging. I have no idea what the cause was, I just installed the 1.2 & 1.2.1 patches and it was fixed. Also, the Mod button in the menu was replaced with strange text which looked like someone’s Mods, even though I never installed them or downloaded them. Truly bizarre.

The editor was also giving me grief, not saving changes, crashing and not running the high detail island properly.

I hope I don’t run into any serious limitations with the 64bit version of the editor, because my new CPU will not run the 32bit version at all. The only limitation found so far, is that it won’t render a MiniMap, which is not a huge issue.

Anyway despite all these issues I’ve made great progress throughout the week, finishing 90% of Industrial Jungle and the second half of the Town. Once I finish Industrial Jungle, I just need to finish the last section of Jungle Road, and then everything from the starting Beach all the way to Pine Valley is finished.

Once I finish Jungle Road, I’ll make another fly-through video.

  1. Enemies wernt moving or firing? What enemies are we going against in this game? Im confused.

  2. Weee, happy update! Though weird on the hardware/computer side of things. It is nice to hear you are making huge steps. And the news of an upcoming (new) flythrough video is a very nice prospect indeed.

    Well done sir!

  3. Great job, keep up the good work.

  5. Wait are we gonna have to have a mini-map, personally i’d find it funner to find my own way around than go off a map. :I

    • I agree, I hope we have the freedom to choose to disable or enable the mini map πŸ™‚

      • Guys.. please read carefully.

  6. Hi there, I’ve read all your blog updates and the whole thread on TresCom and I’d just like to say one thing: You Are Awesome.
Seriously, I’ve had a few family members involved in game design and they’ve seen this and they agree that they’ve never seen anyone with your dedication, care and attention to details. I truly hope that one day you can use this project to get into commercial gaming design because you can be sure I’d play the heck out of a game by you πŸ™‚
The last time I felt this sense of awe when seeing a game was when I saw the bridge scene of Shadow of the Colossus, and what you’ve said about rewarding players for carefully exploring the landscape does remind me of that game’s premise. Have you played it?

    • Hey thanks for the kind words!
Things will get a whole lot better once I move onto stage 2.

I haven’t played Shadow of the Colossus, but I’m a huge fan of I.C.O, which I bought again a while back but haven’t had the chance to finish it. We are going to buy ourselves a used PS3 for Xmas, so ill no doubt play them both when that arrives.

There’s another game by one of the designers of those games called The Guardian or something similar. Been in development for ages. It looks beautiful.

  7. Very, very, very excited about such a project. This is, well, just looking at it and it seems like a dream coming true! Keep at it, please.

  8. Good job, guy!! =)
